A plain-English summary of how StoreStreamer handles store and support data.

1. Who we are

StoreStreamer and StoreStreamer AI are the trading names under which this service is provided. The business operates as a sole trader in the United Kingdom.

StoreStreamer provides a Shopify app that helps merchants optimise catalogue content such as product and collection descriptions, SEO titles and meta descriptions, image ALT text, and related internal links. We also operate the public website at storestreamer.com and the Help Centre at help.storestreamer.com.

2. Information we process

Shopify store and catalogue data

When you install and use StoreStreamer, we access and process catalogue content from your Shopify store through Shopify’s APIs, using the product and file-related permissions granted at install. Depending on the features you run, this may include:

  • Products and collections (including titles, handles, and identifiers)
  • Product and collection descriptions
  • SEO titles and meta descriptions
  • Product images and image ALT text
  • Product tags and vendors (for example, when you use them to choose what to optimise)
  • Product types and collection membership information used to understand catalogue structure
  • StoreStreamer-managed optimisation markers used to track what has already been optimised

We store copies of selected catalogue fields to support rollback (Undo Last and Restore original content), including descriptions, SEO fields, and image ALT text captured before StoreStreamer changes them. We may also store derived catalogue intelligence used to improve writing quality for your store (for example, collection strategy information associated with your store).

Merchant account and app operation data

To operate the app we store information such as your Shopify shop domain, authentication tokens needed to call Shopify on your behalf, your StoreStreamer settings (tone, region, store profile, optimisation preferences and scope), subscription and credit/usage information, and operational records of optimisation runs (for example, which products or collections were processed and whether a run succeeded).

Support and website contact information

If you contact us through a website or Help Centre form, we process the details you submit — typically your name, email address, message, and any optional shop domain or other context you provide.

Help and Assistant interaction data

If you use the in-app documentation Assistant, we may record the question you ask, the shop domain, and outcome information used to improve our Help content. If you use the public Help Centre Assistant, similar interaction signals may be recorded for the same improvement purpose. These records are not used as a commercial website advertising tracker.

3. Information we do not access

StoreStreamer does not access, process, or store Shopify storefront customer or buyer personal data. That includes customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, shipping or billing addresses, and order contents.

We do not use StoreStreamer to read your customers’ personal information from Shopify. Our Shopify access is limited to the catalogue and file-related permissions required to provide product and collection optimisation.

We also do not process inventory levels, product pricing, or product variants as part of StoreStreamer’s optimisation workflow.

4. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide catalogue optimisation, Preview, Undo Last, Restore original content, and related app features
  • Apply your Store AI Settings and Optimisation Settings
  • Calculate and manage credits, subscriptions, and usage related to Shopify App Pricing
  • Authenticate your store, keep the app secure, and operate background optimisation jobs
  • Answer support requests and improve Help documentation and Assistants
  • Comply with legal obligations and Shopify App Store requirements

We do not sell your store catalogue data. We do not use your catalogue content for advertising networks.

5. AI processing (OpenAI)

StoreStreamer uses OpenAI to generate and refine catalogue content and to power documentation Assistants. When you run an optimisation (or use an Assistant), relevant text from your catalogue or your question — and, when image ALT optimisation is enabled, product image URL identifiers — may be sent to OpenAI so that a response can be generated.

According to OpenAI’s platform documentation, data sent to the OpenAI API is not used to train or improve OpenAI models by default. OpenAI states that abuse-monitoring logs for API usage may be retained for up to 30 days unless a longer period is required by law or to protect its services. Details can change over time; see OpenAI’s current documentation:

6. Contact forms (Formspree)

Website and Help Centre contact forms are submitted through Formspree, which receives the information you enter so that it can be delivered to StoreStreamer Support (for example name, email, message, and any optional shop details).

Formspree processes that information as a service provider. How Formspree stores and protects submissions is described in Formspree’s own privacy documentation:

7. Cookies and browser storage

The StoreStreamer Shopify app relies on Shopify’s embedded-app authentication, which uses cookies and session storage necessary to keep you signed in and secure inside Shopify Admin.

The public website and Help Centre may use limited browser storage for ordinary site function — for example, remembering a short Help Assistant conversation in your browser session, or storing a small number of Help usage events in localStorage on your device only.

We do not use advertising cookies or marketing pixels on the StoreStreamer website.

8. Analytics and tracking

StoreStreamer does not use commercial website analytics or advertising trackers such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel on the public website or demonstration page.

Limited, product-oriented signals may still exist:

  • Help Centre (browser only): basic page, search, and feedback events may be stored in your browser’s localStorage. These are not sent to a third-party marketing analytics platform.
  • StoreStreamer Assistants: interaction records (such as questions asked and whether documentation covered the topic) may be stored by StoreStreamer to improve Help content and the Assistant experience.

9. Storage, rollback data, and retention

StoreStreamer stores the operational and catalogue-related information needed to provide the service, including:

  • Shop identity and authentication material
  • Settings, credits, and subscription records
  • Optimisation run telemetry
  • Rollback / backup snapshots of StoreStreamer-managed fields (descriptions, SEO titles and meta descriptions, and image ALT text)
  • Derived catalogue intelligence associated with your store

Rollback data exists so you can use Undo Last and Restore original content. It contains original storefront content that StoreStreamer captured before making changes, and may also reflect earlier StoreStreamer output if you have already optimised an item.

While your store remains installed, we retain this information for as long as needed to provide the service and maintain your account history.

10. After you uninstall

When you uninstall StoreStreamer AI, we retain your store data — including any saved rollback data — for up to 30 days. This allows you to reinstall during that period and, where supported, continue using previously saved rollback history.

After 30 days, stored data relating to your store is permanently deleted from StoreStreamer’s records, and previously saved rollback data can no longer be restored.

You may request earlier deletion by contacting us (see Contact us about privacy).

Uninstalling also cancels your StoreStreamer subscription at the end of the current Shopify billing period in accordance with Shopify’s billing behaviour. Content already written to your Shopify store remains in Shopify until you change it.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information we store, including authenticated access to the app through Shopify, encrypted connections (HTTPS) for our services, and verification of Shopify webhooks. Access to internal operational tools is restricted.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If you believe your store’s StoreStreamer access has been compromised, contact us promptly and revoke app access from your Shopify Admin if needed.

12. Shopify’s role

StoreStreamer runs as an embedded Shopify app. Shopify provides the platform on which your store and App Store billing operate. Shopify processes merchant account information and other platform data under Shopify’s own terms and privacy policy. StoreStreamer receives the access Shopify grants through the app installation and API permissions you approve.

13. Service providers

We use a small number of service providers to operate StoreStreamer, including:

  • Shopify — app platform, authentication, Admin APIs, and billing
  • OpenAI — AI content generation and Assistants
  • Formspree — delivery of website and Help Centre contact-form submissions
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers that store and serve the StoreStreamer application and website

These providers process information only as needed to deliver their services to StoreStreamer. Their own privacy practices apply to processing they perform.

14. Your rights and requests

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights to ask for access to information we hold about your store or contact submissions, to correct inaccurate information, or to request deletion.

Because StoreStreamer does not store Shopify storefront customer/buyer personal data, customer data requests relating to your buyers should be handled in Shopify (and any other systems where you store customer information), not through StoreStreamer catalogue backups.

To request information about your StoreStreamer account data, or to request earlier deletion after uninstall, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify that the request comes from an authorised user of the relevant Shopify store.

15. Contact us about privacy

Use the privacy request form below to ask a privacy question, request information about data StoreStreamer holds about you or your store, or request earlier deletion of your data.

We may need to verify that the request comes from an authorised user of the relevant Shopify store. Including your Shopify store domain helps us locate the correct records.

Submissions are sent securely through our website contact form service. Do not include payment card details or passwords.

16. Complaints to the ICO

If you have concerns about how StoreStreamer handles your personal information, please contact us first using the details above so we can try to resolve the matter.

You also have the right to complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the supervisory authority for data protection in the United Kingdom:

17. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of StoreStreamer after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
